true?

I don't know if this is true, both universally and personally, but I'm loving thinking about it right now. (that is, in the back of my mind. the front of my mind is occupied with genocide, comme toujours.)

The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule.

i saw word to mencken. have been pondering ethics in int'l relations lately, and have come to the conclusion that ethical arguments are only used 1.) by the weaker party OR 2.) as political justification hiding some nastier political motive. is somewhat jaded of me, but REALLY, when does a superpower (i.e. the stronger party) ever say "Let's do this for the good of mankind" without it actually meaning death and destruction?
